The Gift of Gratitude

The Gift of Gratitude Day 5: The Smell and Taste of Home Baked Cookies

One of Robin and my December tradition is to watch a Christmas movie be it cheesy, sincere, jolly…and eat cookies with a glass of milk.  Last night we decided on Fred Claus BUT only had two homemade cookies!! Tragic!

I needed to go to the post office and on the way back we stopped to pick up a few things at the store.  While there I grabbed a bag of white chocolate chips and cashews (they were out of macadamia nuts).  We get home and I’m going thru the pantry getting out all the ingredients needed for baking, you got it, COOKIES!!

Today it has rained all day long!! After having beautiful blue skies with 68 degree weather yesterday, it kind of puts a damper on things.  Robin didn’t get to work at his paying job but did get our kitchen windows installed YAY! Doing the happy dance!! I helped him as much as I could (while letting the butter and eggs reach room temperature) then started mixing, measuring, cracking eggs, scooping dough on the cookie sheet …. within a few minutes the house smelled delicious 🙂 . We didn’t let them cool – taking that first bite was heavenly, we both looked at each other with a kid like smile and devoured a few more….it has been a challenge keeping us out those cookies but turned it into a fun day (by the way I ended baking 43 cookies!!).  Oh happy, happy nights of watching Christmas movies while acting like a kid dunking our cookies in milk.

Much love from~

  1. Cheesy Christmas movies are the best, haha. Ah, make sure you have enough to make cookies at all times! It’s a must this time of year. Yummmyyyy.
